Ways to Give
Supporting the Markhaven Foundation helps ensure compassionate care, comfort, and dignity for the seniors who call Markhaven Home for Seniors their home.

You can make a secure online donation through CanadaHelps. This platform allows you to donate using a credit card and receive an immediate electronic charitable tax receipt. You may also choose to make your gift in honour or in memory of someone special, or include a personal dedication.

Donations may also be made by cash or cheque payable to The Markhaven Foundation. All donations are eligible for a charitable tax receipt in accordance with Canada Revenue Agency regulations. Cheques can be mailed or delivered to:

Planned Giving
Planned Giving allows you to support the future of Markhaven while also considering your personal financial goals. Donors who make a planned gift are recognized as members of The Markhaven Friends of the Future. There are several ways you can include the Markhaven Foundation in your long-term financial planning.

Bequest
A bequest is a gift made through your will. This option allows you to support Markhaven in the future while maintaining your financial security today. A bequest can be structured to reflect your personal and financial circumstances and ensures your legacy supports seniors for generations to come.

Life Insurance
Donating a life insurance policy can be an affordable way to make a meaningful and lasting contribution. With proper planning, this type of gift may also help reduce probate fees and taxes on your estate.

Real Estate
A gift of real estate can make a significant impact without affecting your liquid assets. Donors may receive a tax receipt for the fair market value of the property. In some cases, arrangements can allow you to continue living in the property while supporting the future of Markhaven.

Marketable Securities
Donating publicly traded stocks or bonds is one of the most tax-efficient ways to give. Gifts of appreciated securities may provide additional tax advantages and can allow you to make a larger contribution than a cash donation.

Charitable Annuity
A charitable annuity allows you to make a meaningful gift while receiving guaranteed income for life. When combined with the available tax advantages, the net financial return can sometimes exceed that of traditional investments such as GICs.
