SCOTIABANK TORONTO WATERFRONT MARATHON - SEPT 27, 2009

Markhaven Foundation has participated, along with 85 other Charities, in the Charity Challenge of the 2009 Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon.  Come and join Team Markhaven!  Run/Walk in honour of a loved one and help raise funds to support Markhaven Home for Seniors.  Bring your family and friends for a great day and a great cause.

HEROES CHALLENGE

On Tuesday, October 7th hundreds of people living and working in the Markham area will be taking part in the Heroes Challenge in support of Markhaven Home for Seniors. Join in a unique experience that will help raise funds and an awareness of the divergent challenges faced by grandmas and grandpas and other seniors who have contributed so much to our society.

Heroes Challenge will raise awareness and support for the growing number of elderly in our society by fostering a competitive challenge that allows members of the Markham and area community to:

• Spend three hours of a normal day experiencing a physical challenge similar to what many seniors face daily
• Honour seniors as heroes for building the "caring" society we take for granted by posting a message on the online "Heroes Wall" or sending a postcard to their favourite senior
• Participate and challenge their peers to join in Markhaven's "Homes for Heroes Campaign" and help raise funds to plan and develop new "care" facilities and programs

GOLF TOURNAMENT 2008 - A real success!

The 8^th Annual Markhaven Charity Golf Tournament was held Monday May 5^th at Angus Glen Golf Club. Despite the unsettled weather this spring golfers enjoyed a gorgeous and sunny, if a little windy, day. A full contingent were anxious to hit the links and work out the kinks. Mayor Frank Scarpitti was on hand as our honorary host and special guests this year included Senator Frank Mahovlich and MP Lui Temelkovski. A great time was had by all and special thanks go to our volunteer committee and the management and staff of Angus Glen for their hard work behind the scenes.
