About Us
2010 marks the 50th anniversary of Markhaven Home for Seniors.
Markhaven was originally the vision of Lois and Wes Neely, who saw a pressing need for a Home where seniors would be nurtured in a loving, warm and caring Christian environment. On October 5, 1960, the Neely's opened their home at 204 Main Street in Markham to the first residents. Their residence eventually became "home" to 15 seniors.
From these humble beginnings to our present 96-bed facility located at 54 Parkway Avenue, Markham, we continue to serve the community, providing a full range of care for literally hundreds of seniors from all faiths and backgrounds, extending from residential to extended care. Our reputation, of "the Home with a Big Heart", is largely due to our skilled and dedicated staff, many faithful volunteers and our community.
Celebrating our first milestone of serving the community for 50 years, we are delighted to plan our next 50 with land generously donated to us at McCowan Road and Major Mackenzie Drive. Please join us in celebrating our first half-century milestone by purchasing a gift for Markhaven through our 50th Anniversary Gift Registry.
